PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing support device and a photographing support method for supporting a photographer to perform photographing in the case of photographing a living thing.SOLUTION: A photographing support device 1 includes: living thing photographing guide information databases 13A to 13C for storing photographing guide information for guiding the photographing of a living thing for every type of living thing; photographic image acquisition means for acquiring a photographic image including a living thing acquired by portable terminal equipment carried by a photographer from the portable terminal equipment; living thing type determination means for determining the type of the living thing included in the photographic image acquired by the photographic image acquisition means; living thing photographing guide information extraction means for extracting the living thing photographing guide information relating to the living thing whose type has been determined by the living thing type determination means from the living thing photographing guide information databases 13A to 13C; and a living thing photographing guide information transmission means for transmitting the living thing photographing guide information extracted by the living thing photographing guide information extraction means to the portable terminal equipment.
