Tropical tasar cocoons are abundantly available in the slates of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh etc. The largest producer of tropical tasar cocoons is Jharkhand followed by Chhattisgarh. Both domestic varieties i.e. Daba Tri- Voltine and Daba Bi- Voltine tasar cocoons as well as from natural resources tike Rally, Modal etc are available in Chhattisgarh State. So, tasar reeling is one of the main source for income of people in rural areas. After degumming, tasar cocoons are reeled following Natwa (Thigh) reeling process to produce reeled yarn. The productivity is very low i.e. only about 75 gm in a day of 60 denier filament. This thigh reeling is carried out by woman reeler of weaving families. Due to rubbing of filament on thigh, the reeler often is suffering from skin disease. Also it is not acceptable by the society. Later on different reeling machines are developed by various persons and research institutes to overcome this issue and also for enhancement of productivity and. quality. Productivity has improved to about 125 gm in a day of 8 hours with 60 denier filament fineness. But it is not up to the level by which reelers can earn sufficient income. Also the spare parts used in these machines are not available in rural areas, which need to be replaced when require only after procurement from Machinery Manufacturers. This situation causes difficulties to run the machine. So, in this scenario, a reeling machine need to be designed and fabricated which consists of simple design and women reelers can operate easily. Also the spares which are incorporated in the machine can be available locally so that reelers need not to wait for the same in order to avoid stoppage of regular production. This reeling machine developed can fulfill the all requirements of women reelers in rural areas and also overcome all lacunae prevailing in tasar sector.
