The holder (2) has a wax block (8) inserted in a cup shaped container (6), and a wick (12) passed through a hole (10) of the wax block. The wax block and the wick are arranged on a base (13) of the container resting upon the wick holder. A base board (14) is provided with a central passage (16) in form of a hollow cylindrical extension, where the bottom of the wick is received and fixed in the central passage. The base board is formed in the container as an equilateral triangle, a square and/or regular hexagon, where the base board is formed from a deep-drawing sheet metal stripe. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a wick holder.
