Plastic levels of C3a, as a complement system and plasma levels of sphingosine-1-phosphate, have been identified as markers of the first psychotic episode, as well as the use of sphinxin-1-phosphate and the amount of VSEL Lin-/CD45-/CD34+ parent cells as markers of the first schizophrenic psychotic episode. In addition, the invention includes the detection of the first episode of psychosis, especially schizophrenia, which consists in determining the level of C3a in the blood sample taken from the patient,sphingosine-1-phosphate content level and stem cell content level VSEL Lin -/CD45-/CD34+,where plasma protein C3a below 550 [ng/ml] and plasma sphingosine-1-phosphate below 2,33 [mg/ml] indicate the occurrence of the first psychotic episode. Conversely, plasma levels of sphinxin-1-phosphate below 2,33 [mg/ml] and the number of VSEL linear stem cells -/CD45-/CD34+ above 0,45 [peripheral blood cell/mile] indicate the onset of the first schizophrenic psychotic episode.
