Malleable compound for use as a disinfectant comprising water and 25-40% by weight of a solvent component comprising water-miscible low molecular weight alcohols; 1-10% by weight of a bactericidal active ingredient; 3-6% by weight of polygalactomannan hydroxypropylated with a level of etherification of 0.3-1.5; and 0.1-0.8% by weight of boric acid or an equivalent amount of boron ions at a pH between 6 and 10.
