The oven (10) has a combustion chamber (12) heated by a resistor heating device (22). The combustion chamber is surrounded from top part to sides of an oven hood (14). A heat conducting body (50) exhibits specific thermal conductivity of 100 Watts per meter Kelvin. A base (16) the combustion chamber as a part of an oven lower part (18) extends below the combustion chamber. The oven hood is removed from the oven lower part. The resistor heating device is installed in a region of a side wall (20) of the combustion chamber. The heat conducting body is arranged on the base of the chamber. The heat conducting body is formed in a form of a honeycomb-like carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a dental burning or- press oven.
