A case (1) for a stick (2) of material to be applied by frictionrubbing, in particular a lipstick, comprising: - a cup (3), a mechanism (9) for displacing the cup comprising: a hollow cylindrical internal body (10); a hollow cylindrical external body (11), in which the internal body (10) is fitted so as to pivot with respect to the external body (11) around the principal axis (X); means for blocking translational movement between the internal body (10) and the external body (11); a casing (30), at least partially covering the displacement mechanism (9); means for rotating the external body (11) with respect to the internal body (10); and a lid (46), hinged on the casing (30), independent of the displacement mechanism (9) of the cup (3).
