Provided are: a surface-coating method for an aluminum member endowed both with high thermal insulating properties and high thermal equalizing properties; a surface-coated aluminum member; and a piston for an internal combustion engine. The surface-coated aluminum member is provided, at a minimum, with a first film (2) on the surface of an aluminum member (1), and a second film (3) of higher thermal conductivity than the first film (2), on the surface of the first film (2).
