The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating autoimmune diseases including a PTEN-induced kinase 1 protein (PINK1) or a polynucleotide for encoding the PINK1 as active ingredients. The PINK1 of the present invention inhibits the activity of Th17 or facilitates the activity of a regulatory T cell (Treg) and controls an over immune reaction by increasing autophagy in the Treg, so the PINK1 can be widely used for preventing or treating autoimmune diseases like arthritis caused by failing to control immune reactions as pharmaceutical compositions or immune inhibitors.
