The present invention provides a touchscreen panel apparatus and a controlling method thereof, wherein a touch input can be received from a user by generating an electric field with a certain electric potential without including a separate electric field sensor. The touchscreen panel apparatus according to the present invention comprises: a display module; a touch module arranged at the upper part of the display module; an electrode pattern that is adjacent to the touch panel and generates an electric field on top of the touch panel if provided with power; a power supply part for supplying the power to the touch panel; and a control module for controlling the power supply part so that an electric field with a certain electric potential can be formed on the electrode pattern.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
