Provided are a quasi-fuel monitoring system and method thereof. The quasi-fuel monitoring system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a telematics terminal collecting the current location and a refuel amount of a vehicle and transmitting the same to the outside when fuel is injected to the vehicle; and a telematics server comparing the current location of the vehicle with a location of a registered gas station, comparing the refuel amount with a preset value, and determining whether a quasi-fuel has been injected according to the comparison result. The method for monitoring quasi-fuel according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: receiving the current location and a refuel amount of a vehicle when fuel is injected into the vehicle; comparing the current location of the vehicle with a location of a registered gas station; comparing the refuel amount with a preset value; and when the current location of the vehicle is not identical to the location of the registered gas station and the refuel amount exceeds the preset value, determining that quasi-fuel has been injected.
