METHOD OF TRANSFORMING VARIABLES FOR VARIATIONAL DATA ASSIMILATION MODULE USING CUBED-SPHERE GRID BASED ON SPECTRAL ELEMENT METHOD, AND HARDWARE DEVICE PERFORMING SAME
The present invention relates to a method of transforming variables for a variational data assimilation module using a cubed-sphere grid based on a spectral element method which transforms first primitive weather variables into derived weather variables in a background field of a numerical weather prediction model. A first error correlation between the first primitive weather variables is larger than a second error correlation between the derived weather variables. The derived weather variables is inverse-transformed into second primitive weather variables. Based on variables of an observation field corresponding to the second primitive weather variables, values of the second primitive weather variables are adjusted. Adjustment of the values of the second primitive weather variables is processed by transposing the inverse transformation.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
