An apparatus for incorporating workspace data into a workspace limitation system of a work machine has been disclosed. The working space is staked according to the invention by defining permissible and impermissible residence areas of the working machine and its tool. This can be done already during the construction planning by means of map or CAD support, as well as during operation of the work machine by its operator. In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the latter can access a touchscreen in the immediate vicinity of the main operating elements, which permits the definition and manipulation of the areas of residence in a particularly rapid and practical manner.
