An engine unit (10) includes an engine (200), an ISG (300) (Integrated Starter Generator) and an auxiliary motor (400). The ISG rotates a crankshaft (210) in a forward direction after rotating the crankshaft (210) in a reverse direction during start-up of the engine (200). The auxiliary motor (400) is connected to the crankshaft (210) via a reduction gear (450) and a clutch mechanism (500) and rotates the crankshaft (210) in at least the reverse direction during the start-up of the engine (200). In both of the forward and reverse directions, the clutch mechanism (500) can be switched between a state in which rotational force of the auxiliary motor (400) is transmitted to the crankshaft (210) and a state in which the rotational force of the auxiliary motor (400) is not transmitted to the crankshaft (210).
