PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide resin particles that are low in cost, have a sharp particle size distribution, and are high in circularity, and resin fine particles for obtaining a toner, and further to provide resin particles containing the resin fine particles and a method of manufacturing a toner.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a toner includes the steps of: mixing a resin solution containing a resin R, a colorant, and an organic solvent, resin fine particles containing a resin S that contains a unique element α, and carbon dioxide, to form a droplet having the surface thereof covered with resin fine particles; introducing liquid carbon dioxide into the droplet and applying pressure on the droplet having the liquid carbon dioxide introduced thereinto, to extract an organic solvent contained in the droplet; and removing the extracted organic solvent together with carbon dioxide to give toner particles. In the method, when the resin fine particles are treated with the liquid carbon dioxide, the variation of the unique element α on the surface of the resin fine particles before and after the treatment is in a specific range.SELECTED DRAWING: None
