PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating oil-containing sludge that can treat sludge irrespective of the property thereof by simple treatment and reduce an amount of expensive heavy fuel oil to be used for a roasting furnace.SOLUTION: A method for producing a raw material for iron production includes: roasting ferrous oil-containing sludge containing iron and oil contents; burning the oil contents to remove the oil contents; and using the sludge where the oil contents are removed and iron is contained for a raw material for iron production. The method for producing a raw material for iron production uses waste plastic as fuel when roasting the ferrous oil-containing sludge.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
