PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to select loading means.;SOLUTION: A Swedish-type sounding penetration test device may carry any number (0 to N) of weights W, and includes a loading platform 4 that ascends/descends along a support 3, a hydraulic cylinder mechanism 5 that exerts variable lifting force to the loading platform 4, and a chuck mechanism 8 that is installed rotatably on the loading platform 4 and capable of retaining a penetrating rod R. First loading means that uses a first load comprising the weight of the loading platform 4 and any number of weights W loaded on the loading platform, and second loading means that uses a second load combining the first load and the lifting force of the cylinder mechanism are available.
