PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for measuring an effective conductivity of a composite material structure under test.SOLUTION: A composite material structure under test (SUT) 106 is set up between a transmit coil 102 and a receive coil 104. The transmit coil is driven with a radio frequency (RF) signal over a plurality of frequencies, thereby causing the transmit coil to produce a magnetic field by magnetic coupling through the SUT in the receive coil. The voltage in the receive coil is measured at a network analyzer 114, and from the voltage, a measurement of attenuation of the RF signal caused by the SUT between the transmit coil and the receive coil is produced. An effective conductivity of the SUT is calculated from the measurement of attenuation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
