The modular belt 300 includes a belt module 320, a pivot rod 350, and a link cap 340. The belt module 320 includes an intermediate section 322, an outer link end 324 extending from the intermediate section 322 in a first direction parallel to the belt traveling direction, and a second opposite to the first direction from the intermediate section 322. And an opposing link end 330 extending in the direction. The opposing link end 330 is configured to mate with the link end of an adjacent module and has a lateral opening defined therein. The outer link end 324 has a lateral opening defined therein and a mating connector. Pivot rod 350 is disposed through a lateral opening in outer link end 324. The link cap 340 is for holding the pivot rod 350 and has a corresponding connector 342 configured to couple with the mating connector 326 at the outer link end 324.
