PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an imide structure-containing (meth)acrylic resin which can be suitably used for a raw material and the like of an optical film that is excellent in heat resistance, has a low birefringence, has high surface hardness and has a small photoelastic coefficient.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a (meth)acrylic resin having an imide structure from a (meth)acrylic resin obtained by polymerizing a monomer component containing a (meth)acrylic monomer. The method includes heating the (meth)acrylic resin under reduced pressure and thereby cyclocondensing the (meth)acrylic resin, and imidizing the obtained cyclic structure-containing (meth)acrylic resin with an imidization agent.SELECTED DRAWING: None
