PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound that can exhibit a nonlinear light absorption effect to be added to a recording layer of an optical information recording medium for shortening writing time when a writing mark is written on the recording layer by a high-intensity pulsed laser.SOLUTION: A (3-hydroxy-3,3-diphenyl-1-propynyl)aryl compound is represented by formula (1) (wherein Ar is substituted or unsubstituted divalent or trivalent aryl but not unsubstituted phenyl nor unsubstituted diphenyl keton-4-yl).
