PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective prophylactic and therapeutic agent for canities; to provide a nontherapeutic beauty method; to provide an endothelin receptor B gene expression promotor; and to provide an MITF-M gene expression promotor.SOLUTION: There is provided a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for canities, containing a keeping/increasing ingredient of the dye stem cell number, as an active ingredient. An endothelin receptor B gene expression promotor composed of at least one selected from Prunus extracts, Chamaemelum nobile(L.) extracts, luteolin, and Melissa offcialis extracts, or containing at least one of these as an active ingredient, is provided.
