Viral vectors based on Modifications of the Citrus tristeza virus useful to transfect Citrus trees. The Disclosure includes viral vectors that include one or more Gene cassettes encoding defensin Peptide of Spinach.The Gene cassettes found in locations suitable for expression in the viral Genome while preserving the functionality of the virus. Also disclosed are methods for transfecting plants and forms of realization of Plants Transfected with viral vector.
