A process for the preparation of phenyl guanidines of the formula I shown in the accompanying drawings and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts: in which NRRg are N-methylamino, N,N-dimethylamino, N-ethylamino, N-ethyl-N-methylamino, N-butylamino, N- methyl-N-methylthioethylamino, N-methoyethyl-N-methylamino, N-allyl-N-methylamino, N-ethyl-N-methoxy-ethylamino,N/N- diallyl, N-methylpiperazinyl, dimetyimorpholino, methyl-piperidino, morpholino/ thiamorpholin0 and R is H, fluoro, chloro/ methyl, or methoxy; said process comprising the reaction of an ethanolic solution of an amine of the formula II shown in the accompanying drawings with a compound of the formula HI shown in the accompanying drawings, said reaction occurring at the boiling point of the reaction mixture f°r sufficient time to complete the reaction.
