A device for automated water level and quality measurments for geo-hydrological applications

The device is mainly intended for recording important groundwater parameters for geo-hydrological applications employing industry standard water level, conductivity, pH and temperature sensors for unattended long-term recording in observation bore wells thus catering to the needs of pumping tests, water level measurements and pollution studies for effective ground water utilization and management. The invention lies in the combination of hardware and software, wherein is provided a combination of a low power C-programmable microcontroller having a micro-processor, on board flash memory with application specific embedded software, SRAM memory along with built in real time clock; an A/D converter; a 4-channel multiplexer; sensors; an inter-face link to a PC/laptop computer having operator interactive graphical user interface (GUI) application software. Thus providing a compact and economical water level and quality monitoring system for geo-hydrological applications that would automatically record the variation of water levels and quality parameters with time at set time intervals and also be able to transfer the data onto a portable computer at the end of the monitoring period for later analysis and plotting.
