RAPID TEST KIT FOR IDENTIFICATION OF WHITE SPOT DISEASE AND STRESS IN SHRIMPS AND METHOD THEREOF

The present invention relates to a test kit for rapid identification of white spot infection and the associated stress in shrimps caused by hepatopancreatic damage and method of detection thereof. The detection kit comprises of three reaction solutions A, B & C, a hemolymph extracting needle, a reaction tube and a colour code detector. The reaction solution A is a buffered substrate with a pH 7.8, the reaction solution B is 2,4 dinitrophenyl hydrazine in HCI and the reaction solution C is sodium hydroxide in water. The reaction tube contains sodium citrate solution which is an anticoagulant. The method of detecting white spot disease and stress in shrimps comprises of extracting the fresh hemolymph using the extraction needle and transferring it to the reaction tube containing sodium citrate. To this reaction solutions A, B and C are added consecutively. A deep reddish brown colour will be developed if the prawn is infected and a light brown colour indicates the prawn is free from stress.
