The present invention is intended to reconstruct a discrete signal, which is delivered by a transmission or storage system presenting the loss of the correct values of some samples when a clipping phenomenon occurred. The reconstruction of the signal is mainly based on the implementation of a block that estimates the function of auto-covariance form the samples that were not affected by the clipping, an adjustable synchronization clock providing a reconstruction interval of the signal, which will be a multiple of the sample interval of the input signal, a block estimating the basic functions of the samples being based on the auto-covariance of the signal, and a bit multiplier and a signal adder for allowing the signal to be optimally reconstructed.
