The purpose of the present invention is to provide an intermolecular viscoelastic interaction measurement method and intermolecular viscoelastic interaction measurement device capable of obtaining a satisfactory response signal in a frequency band having a width sufficient for obtaining information pertaining to the viscoelastic interaction of a material to be measured. Provided is a method for measuring the intermolecular viscoelastic interaction of a material to be measured in which measurement pertaining to the viscoelastic interaction between the molecules of the material to be measured is carried out through the adhesion of the material to be measured to an attenuated total reflection prism fixed by a fixing means, the application of a periodically varying pressure to the material to be measured by a pressure application means, and the measurement of the spectral variation accompanying the stress variation of the material to be measured using a spectroscopic device capable of time-resolved measurement, wherein pressure is applied to the material to be measured using the pressure application means in a state in which a load member having high hardness and density is sandwiched between the pressure application means and the material to be measured, and damped-wave stress variation is thereby made to occur in the load member and material to be measured.
