Disclosed is a transmission, comprising a friction disc (6), a planetary friction wheel (8), a planetary shaft (9), a planetary carrier (10), a planetary wheel (11), and a gear ring (12) or a sun wheel (15), wherein the friction disc (6) is in contact with the planetary friction wheel (8), the planetary friction wheel (8) is splinedly connected to the planetary shaft (9) and movable axially, the planetary shaft (9) is connected to the planetary wheel (11), the planetary wheel (11) is engaged with the gear ring (12) or the sun wheel (15), the planetary shaft (9) is mounted on the planetary carrier (10), and an axis line of the planetary shaft (9) intersects with that of the friction disc (6) at a point. The transmission has the advantages of a simple structure, low cost, a large range of speed changing, strong bearing ability, high transmission efficiency, and is easy to regulate and control, such that it can be widely used in the field of transmission. Further disclosed is a continuously variable transmission method.
