The invention relates to a method for heating and sterilizing KEGs, in particular reuseable KEGs by steaming, in which in a pressure phase of the steaming, the inner chamber of the respective KEG is supplied with steam from a water vapour source, and subsequently the connection to the water vapour source is interrupted such that, in a holding time or leave-in time of the pressure phase, the heating and the sterilizing of the reuseable KEGs and the KEGs fittings takes place with increasing condensation of water vapour on the inner surfaces of the reuseable KEGs and a KEG fitting.
