Disclosed are a method for verifying measurement of internal resistance of an oxygen sensor, and an exhaust gas monitoring system operated thereby. A verification method (S100) in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention relates to the method for verifying measurement of internal resistance of an oxygen sensor that detects oxygen concentration in exhaust gas of a motor vehicle (S100), comprising: a) a step of determining a condition whether a monitoring condition of the oxygen sensor is valid (S110); b) a step of waiting a rise in temperature of an exhaust pipe, wherein a next step is performed after waiting until a temperature value of the exhaust pipe is equal to or greater than a preset value (S120); c) a step of integrating heating duty values, wherein the heating duty values applied to the oxygen sensor are integrated, and a next step is performed after waiting until an integrated value is equal to or greater than a preset critical value (S130); and d) a step of determining a failure, wherein an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) is determined as a failure if a temperature of the oxygen sensor does not reach an activation temperature even though the integrated value of the heating values is equal to or greater than the preset critical value (S140). According to the verification method of the present invention, since a method for measuring internal resistance of the oxygen sensor is easily verified by only monitoring oxygen sensor heating duty values without a request for any additional equipment, a failure of the ASIC can easily be determined.
