摘要

The present invention relates to a device and a method for diagnosing whether carbon is excessively accumulated in an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve of an EGR apparatus as well as a device and a method for controlling the EGR valve in accordance with a diagnosis result. According to the present invention, the device for controlling and diagnosing the EGR valve includes: one or more sensors obtaining operation conditions; an EGR flow rate calculation module which calculates an EGR flow rate based on the operation conditions; an EGR valve control module which outputs an opening instruction of the EGR valve based on the EGR flow rate; an EGR valve opening sensor which obtains the opening range of the EGR valve; and an EGR valve opening diagnosis module which calculates a normal valid flow area based on the EGR valve opening, calculates an estimated valid flow area based on the operation condition and the EGR flow rate, and diagnoses excessive carbon accumulation in the EGR valve when a difference between the normal valid flow area and the estimated valid flow area exceeds a reference value.
