Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for measuring precipitation by using a frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) weather radar system. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for measuring precipitation comprises: a reference signal generation unit which generates a predetermined reference signal; an FMCW signal generation unit which generates an FMCW signal based on the reference signal; a wireless transmission unit which wirelessly transmits the FMCW signal; a wireless reception unit which receives a reflection signal with respect to the wirelessly transmitted FMCW signal; a mixer which generates an intermediate frequency (IF) signal by mixing the reflection signal and a local oscillating signal; a baseband signal generation unit which generates a baseband I/Q signal based on the IF signal and the reference signal; and a precipitation measurement unit which measures precipitation in the atmosphere based on the baseband I/Q signal.
