Apparatus and method for determining the interlaminar shear strength and of the shear modulus of fiber-reinforced plastic laminates, comprising a movable upper base body and a stationary lower base body, whereby a sample in a sample chamber and is positioned laterally of the sample and parallel to the shearing plane support panels are provided laterally, wherein the shearing plane over the entire thickness (d) of the sample can be adjusted as desired, wherein the support panels by means of guide rails in each case independently of the upper base body or the lower base body are displaceable.
