The device (43) has an output device (2) connected with a container containing flowable medium (18) i.e. paint pigment preparations. An outlet channel (8) comprises an outlet opening (14) i.e. outlet nozzle, and provided for the flowable medium, where the dosing device is connected to a cooling device (5). The cooling device cools residues (18a) of the flowable medium remaining in the outlet channel to a predetermined and/or defined temperature. The cooling device has a cooling element (6) that is made from heat-conducting material, where the element is formed by a cooling plate. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a dosing device.
