The method involves removing defined delivery amount of medium from a canister by a control device, and conveying the amount of medium to an outlet device by a conveying device. Actual filling level of the canister is determined by the control device. A calibration sensor i.e. capacitive sensor, is arranged at an outer wall of the canister such that sensor signal is transmitted to the control device when the medium in the canister reaches a calibration-filling level, where the control device detects the calibration filling level as actual filling level of the canister. An independent claim is also included for a dosing device.
