Wastewater collecting tank (4) for a sewage lifting plant (1) with a tank bottom (16) sloping down to a low area (9), wherein above the low area (9) there is a space area (14) from which the wastewater, when used as intended, is removed from the collecting tank (4 ) is sucked off. In the container bottom (16) two elongated recesses (19) are formed, which extend sloping to each of their own deep area (9). Between the recesses (19) is a hill (38) and above the deep areas (9) is in each case a space area (14) for proper suction of the waste water is. Such a bottom geometry prevents flow dead zones and the permanent settling of solid particles on the container bottom (16) and further provides for an automatic cleaning effect with each lifting of waste water from the sump (4).
