PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method that further enhances soil compaction efficiency using a mountable compaction device.SOLUTION: A soil compaction method of the present invention includes the following steps for: A) pressing a mountable compaction device on a ground surface to be compacted, using a support device; B) measuring contacting force exerted on the compaction device by the support device, or a measurement variable correlated with the contacting force; C) determining required duration of compaction time to suit the measured contacting force or the measurement variable correlated with the contacting force; and D) actuating a signal device at least at an end of the required duration of compaction time. For efficient operation according to the present invention, a display apparatus of the signal device indicates an end of a time interval (required compaction time) dependent on the measured contacting force or a parameter corresponding to the contacting force.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
