SIGNAL ATTENUATOR FOR OPTICAL DROP CABLE AND SIGNAL ATTENUATION/RESUMPTION METHOD USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal attenuator for an optical drop cable and a signal attenuation/resumption method which can easily perform temporary suspension and restart of provision of service using an optical fiber core without cutting and reconnecting the optical fiber core in the optical drop cable.;SOLUTION: In a signal attenuator 1 for an optical drop cable 2 in which at least an optical fiber core and a supporting wire for supporting the optical fiber core are covered by a covering member, a detachable cover 12 is mounted on an attenuator body 11. The attenuator body 11 engages with supporting wire sides 2a which consist of the supporting wire torn out of the optical drop cable 2 and the covering member around the supporting wire. A plurality of signal attenuating protrudes 13 for taking up and bending an optical fiber core side 2b in such a manner that a signal passing through the optical fiber core included in the fiber core side 2b can be attenuated are stood in the detachable cover 12.;SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13;COPYRIGHT: (C)2017,JPO&INPIT
