PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the number of rank indication (RI) bits, a base station, and a terminal.SOLUTION: A method comprises: a step in which a base station determines indication information containing the information used by a terminal to determine the number of bits occupied for RI transmission according to the correspondence between the terminal and the base station and MIMO (multi-input, multi-output) capability of the terminal; and a step in which the base station transmits the indication information to the terminal so that the terminal can determine the number of bits occupied for RI transmission according to the indication information.
