PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-touch device capable of interpreting and disambiguating different gestures related to manipulating a displayed image of a 3D object, a scene, or a region.SOLUTION: Manipulations of a multi-touch device include a pan manipulation, a zoom manipulation, a rotation manipulation, and a tilt manipulation. The device can define a plurality of manipulation modes, including one or more single-control modes such as a pan manipulation mode, a zoom manipulation mode, a rotate manipulation mode, and/or a tilt manipulation mode. The manipulation modes can also include a plurality of multi-control modes, such as the pan mode, the zoom mode, and the rotate mode that allow a plurality of parameters to be modified simultaneously.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6B
