The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a 3D article 10, which has an outer layer 210 and a support structure 220 with a cavity 230. The outer layer 210 at least partially surrounds the support structure 220. The method includes (a) 3D printing the outer layer 210 and the support structure 220 with a hot melt lamination (FDM) 3D printable material 201 and at least partially filling the cavity 230 with a filler material 204. A 3D printing stage including; (b) a post-processing stage including post-processing at least a portion of the outer layer 210 to reduce surface roughness.
