A method for rapidly, sensitively and specifically detecting mutations in IDH1 / 2 and TERT promoters uses amplification of specific portions of genes with mutations that are frequently and finely localized. The ability to distinguish sequences that differ by only one nucleotide and can be present in a very low proportion is essential to such an assay.
