PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus and an image recording method capable of printing an image containing an outlined line with high quality.SOLUTION: An image is formed on a recording medium 5 by ejecting droplets of ink from a plurality of nozzles 11 and a plurality of nozzles 16 provided on a recording head 10. The nozzles 11 and the nozzles 16 alternately eject the droplets of ink with a constant period so as to be continuously struck to the recording medium 5. When forming an outlined line on the recording medium 5, the ejection of the nozzles 11 (or the nozzles 16) is stopped by one time. As such an ejection stopping state so as not to eject droplets from the nozzles 11, the nozzles 16 just before or just after forming the outlined line onto the recording medium 5 are also turned into the ejection stopping state, therefore, striking positions of ink from both of the nozzles 11, 16 are shifted all alike in the same degree from a target position and, as the result, the doubling of the outlined line caused due to the shifting of only one side can be suppressed.
