Earlier design cracks were occurring at the 5R radius location due to the local resonant vibrations which leads to fatigue failure. To eliminate the stress raiser occurring at the location, a hew design deleting the radius and strengthening the local area, was made. It is seen from the stress report that there is a reduction in stress concentration factor (Kt) from 1.76 to 1.0 i.e stress reduction for one side is 76%. The new modified MGB Mounting Plate (P/n 2-28009) eliminates the formation of cracks near 5R radius and center fastening hole of the bell crank support.
