The invention relates to providing water of different water quality categories, comprising: determining a first water index value for a quantity of drinkable water of a first water quality having the following ranges with respect to the following chemical ingredients (i) TDS, (ii) H2CO3: TDS less than 50 mg/l, 30 less than H2CO3 less than 250 mg/l then providing the quantity of drinkable water of the first water quality at the first water index value. Determining a second water index value for a quantity of drinkable water of a second water quality having the following ranges with respect to the following chemical ingredients (i) TDS, (ii) H2CO3: TDS less than 150 mg/l, H2CO3 less than 400 mg/l and providing the quantity of drinkable water of the second water quality at the second water index value. The water of given quality categories and index values aid in the trade of fresh water products as water becomes a scarcer commodity.
