The invention relates to novel alpha and eta crystalline forms of 4-[2-[4-[1-(2-ethoxyethyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]-1-piperidinyl)ethyl]-α,α-dimethyl-benzeneacetic acid (bilastine). The invention also relates to methods for the preparation of these crystalline forms of bilastine, pharmaceutical compositions containing same and the use thereof in the treatment of histamine-mediated disease processes and allergic reactions.
