[Problem] To provide a ghost reduction device with which it is possible to effectively reduce a ghost in a situation in which a ghost is likely to occur and suppress a decline in picture quality in a situation in which a ghost hardly occurs, and an imaging device equipped with same, a ghost reduction method, and an imaging optical system. [Solution] The present invention has a plurality of diaphragm blades 11 disposed near a pupil position in an imaging optical system 2 and forming one or a plurality of openings 11a that allow light to pass through, a diaphragm blade drive means 12 for driving each of the diaphragm blades 11 and adjusting the size and/or position of the opening 11a; and a control means 13 for controlling the drive of each of the diaphragm blades 11 by the diaphragm blade drive means 12, the control means 13 exercising drive control so that a diaphragm blade 11 shields from the light all of the positions of the opening 11a that are symmetrical about the optical axis of the imaging optical system 2.
