Provided are a polypeptide for producing an isoprene using a 4-hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl pyrophosphate (HMBPP), a nucleic acid encoding the polypeptide, and a vector and a cell containing the nucleic acid. Further provided are a method for using the polypeptide to produce an isoprene, and a method for preparing the polypeptide.
