A method and system for processing a chronological file, the method comprising: S1, writing data into a DATA sector of a Serial Flash storage medium in sequence, and modifying a status flag; S2, performing an erase/re-write operation according to the status flag of the data stored in the sector; and S3, performing space arrangement according to the number of remaining idle sectors. By means of the method, a user program file cannot be influenced and damaged when a storage chip is maintained and replaced, and the service life can be prolonged while the stability of the system is improved.
